Spencer Paysinger (born June 28, 1988) is a former American football linebacker. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Paysingers's life and career served as inspiration All American, where he also serves as co-producer. He made a cameo appearance in Season Two episode "Speak Ya Clout" as Assistant Coach Baker.
Spencer Paysinger grew up in South Central, Los Angeles yet attended Beverly Hills High School where he excelled at football. He went on to accept a scholarship to the University of Oregon. His personal story is the inspiration for The CW hit drama All American.
Paysinger graduated with a Bachelors in Economics. After going unselected in the 2011 NFL Draft, he made the final cut with the New York Giants where he eventually went on to win Super Bowl XLVI in his rookie season.
After playing seven seasons with the Giants, Dolphins, and Panthers, Paysinger decided to retire and pursue his new dream of writing and developing television and film concepts that spotlight the black experience in America.
Aside from consulting in the All American writers’ room, Paysinger has written and developed various concepts under his Moore Street Productions banner with Uninterrupted and Deviants Media; most of which center around sports and the black experience. Paysinger looks to continue his passion for writing and directing tv and film as he progresses in this industry.
Outside of entertainment, Paysinger is co-owner in Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, a fast-casual eatery with allegiance to underserved communities. He currently serves on the board of KIPP Public Schools Black and LatinX Leadership committee with the goal of creating programs for KIPP’s South Central youth. Paysinger is a board member of Lyft’s City Works Council which allocates $50M a year to support locally-driven initiatives in cities where Lyft operates.
He currently lives in View Park, Los Angeles with his wife Blair Paysinger and two children, Cairo and Madden.
