History[]
Season Two[]
In "Life Goes On", Wilson arrives at the James house and tells the family that Spencer had a scholarship even before he walked through the door. They have the best facilities in the country and are on national TV every week. Spencer would be expected to compete in championships every year. They send their best players to the NFL and believe that Spencer could be one of the very best to ever play. Spencer spaces out, and Wilson notes that he thought Spencer would be happier to hear the news. Wilson offers him an official visit and tells him that the offer isn't going away. Darnell arrives to pick Spencer up, and Wilson states that he's called him but hasn't heard back yet. Darnell tells him that he's moving to Germany, but Wilson replies that if his plans change, he would love to talk to him about his future. He believes Spencer and Darnell at UCLA would be unstoppable.
In "Only Time Will Tell", Spencer comes home to find Coach Wilson already there. Spencer tells him that he just got cleared for physical therapy and can't wait to get back on the field. Wilson looks forward to watching him play again this fall. Spencer didn't know that Wilson was stopping by, but he's actually doing a home visit with Darnell. Wilson and UCLA just offered Darnell a scholarship. Darnell says that he is going for an unofficial visit the next day and invites Spencer. Wilson supports the idea.
At UCLA, Wilson and Jordan run into Spencer and Darnell during their visit. Wilson notes that it seems like they're missing most of it and offers them another opportunity, but they turn it down. Later, Wilson brings out their head coach, Chip Kelly. They leave, stating that they'll catch up soon.
Wilson tells Darnell that they can't wait to bring him back for an official visit later in the fall. He will get to stay overnight and experience game day. Wilson is aware that a lot of other schools are going to want Darnell to play for them and tells him to go with what feels right. He thinks that Darnell will be a perfect fit for UCLA. Darnell agrees and commits. Spencer enters Wilson's office and tells him that his visit went better than he imagined. He tells Wilson that UCLA feels like a real family, and he would like to join that family.
In "Stakes Is High", Coach Wilson finds Spencer at The Hangout and asks about his injury. Spencer asks what he's doing here, as he thought his scholarship was off the table. Wilson clarifies that nothing is off the table; he's here off the record because he likes him. He tells Spencer that Coach Kelly has some concerns and is eyeing other recruits, but he convinced him to hold off for now. Wilson needs to know that Spencer is back on track. He wants him to put on a good performance at the Jamboree and show him that the old Spencer James is back.
After the game, Wilson finds Spencer and notes that it was a great game. He will let Coach Kelly know that Spencer James is back. Spencer asks if his scholarship is back too. Wilson says yes, if he has anything to say about it. He thinks Spencer is definitely Bruin material and tells him that they will keep in touch.
