"Come on! My grandma can kick better than that! Did the grass hurt your feelings? Bruh! Bruh! 'Cause your foot caught more of it than the ball!" ― Nhani[source]

Nhani Rivers is a minor character on the third season of All American, portrayed by Kyanna Simone.

She is a confident, fun, and energetic student at South Crenshaw High.[1]

History[]

Season Three[]

In "Testify", Nhani is first seen at the South Crenshaw kicker tryouts. The boys are all missing, and she taunts them. Frustrated, one of the boys tells her to give it a try. Nhani makes all the field goals, which catches Billy's attention. She introduces herself as Nhani and starts to leave because her mom is there. Billy is shocked to learn that Denise is Nhani's mom. Billy tells Denise that Nhani might be the key to saving his team, but Denise doesn’t want her risking her life on the football field. Denise starts to flirt with Billy, which embarrasses Nhani. Later, Denise changes her mind and allows Nhani to join the football team, knowing she’ll be safe in Billy’s hands.

In "Put Up Or Shut Up", Nhani is starting for the first time against Hawthorne. The game is a must-win to keep Crenshaw's playoff hopes alive. She shanks the opening kick, and Hawthorne scores a touchdown. Nhani apologizes to Billy, and he tells her to try kicking it straight. However, Spencer reassures her, telling her the team has her back. Later, she makes all the extra points, redeeming herself after the opening kickoff.

In "The Bigger Picture", Nhani, Spencer, and Jabari are hanging out at Spencer's house. They are talking about Texas Northern Tech's coach, Romelo Barnum. Nhani mentions that TNT's program is known as "The Bad Boys of Football", and Jabari thinks that there are a lot of flags on the play. However, Spencer says that they are a championship-winning team and a pipeline to the NFL, and he can't let the next few hours pass without locking down an offer. Nhani thinks that other recruiters have been hovering, but Spencer says that there have been no actual offers since the shooting. Jabari tells Spencer that he's the hottest player in South LA right now, and the recruiter took his bye week to fly in and meet him, so he's got it on lock. But Nhani says that it's maybe a semi-lock. She shows them a picture of Barnum with Cam Watkins.

Nhani, along with the rest of the team, is called in for an impromptu practice. She is confused as to why they are not on a field, but heading to a classroom instead. She is seen sitting in Billy's financial literacy class.
