Jaymee Aquino is a recurring character on All American, portrayed by Miya Horcher.
History[]
Jaymee was first introduced in season four as a waitress at Asher's stepfather's bistro. She is a confident, extroverted, and tough young woman with a sharp tongue, who immediately caught Asher’s attention, to the point that he skipped his senior prom to spend the night with her and get to know her.[1] The two soon started a relationship that was a bit casual at first, but it became much more serious after they both realized they were in love with each other. This led Jaymee to confess that she unfortunately suffered from lupus, meaning her health was fragile and being with her involved risks and responsibilities.[2] However, Asher realized he could handle it and decided to move forward, standing by her side—especially in season five when her condition worsened.[3] Jaymee also soon discovered that she was pregnant with their first child.[4] Despite the pregnancy being unexpected and risky due to her disease, she and Asher decided to keep the baby and start a family together.
At the beginning of season six, it was revealed that, fortunately, Jaymee’s pregnancy had progressed well, and she and Asher had become parents to a son they named AJ.[5] They were struggling to sustain their newborn family financially while adjusting to life as parents without losing sight of themselves as individuals and as a couple. However, they eventually found their way and decided to settle down together in the Bakers’ house in South Crenshaw. In the meantime, Jaymee received an unexpected job opportunity when Layla offered her the role of manager at her newly founded club and bar, Layla's. Layla knew that Jaymee had worked extensively in hospitality before her lupus rehabilitation, pregnancy, and transition into motherhood.
