JJ Parker is the life of every Beverly High party and a linebacker of the Eagles after giving up being a QB. He is a star both on and off the field, and friend to all. He’s the life of the party and always ready to make sure his friends are living their best lives while he figures out the best way to authentically live his. He is portrayed by Hunter Clowdus.

Personality[]

He is very grounded, consistent, and genuine. Even though his antics may be mischievous at times, he has no ill will. He’s a "good vibes only" kind of guy, who treats his friends like family. He also takes Halloween and Christmas very seriously. In season 4, he finally opened up about how the rivalry between Coastal and Golden Angeles is just part of driving a wedge into their friendship, and also confessed that he wasn't seen much back in the summer of his freshman year of high school because he and his father was involved in a car accident when the other driver was drunk.

Due to his happy-go-lucky attitude, he never talks about his struggles or hardships. He was only found out about his poor grades in college when Mr. Coach Montes sent Asher to post the academic ineligibility notices to the assistant coaches. He is also very observant and actually a very thorough planner when motivated.

In Murder Was The Case, he planned an elaborate murder mystery case of character assassination of his future self because he felt the friendships he helped built in high school is falling apart around him, at worst: They would completely drift apart in 2 years, completely ruining the wish of them still being friends in 20 years.

In season 5, however, his party animal traits have completely overtaken his pure athletic ability, so Asher had removed his athletic scholarship and proceed to ask Coach Mr. Montes to cut him from the team, seeing that he still has academic hardship scholarship anyway. After Coach Baker passed away, he hid away from the spotlight and self-reflected. He came back on United In Grief and told Asher that he has sobered up and has finally become more committed as a football player. He also took film study seriously to the point that he already prepared his answers for the lesson on 3-4 defenses, which coincided with Coach Mr. Montez's decision to switch to a 3-4 base defense.

History[]

In "Canceled", JJ is still thinking that he and Vanessa are a thing, but she came over to talk to Asher.

In "Put Up Or Shut Up", JJ has some trouble talking to Vanessa Montes. Asher tells him to not try so hard, but JJ wants Asher to put in a good word with Vanessa for him. He wants Asher to tell her that he's more than a "super popular homecoming king". He really likes her and wants her to see him as a good guy.

He also briefly assumed the role of starting quarterback when Jordan was concussed.

In Murder Was The Case, he planned an elaborate murder mystery case of character assassination of his future self because he felt the friendships he helped built in high school is falling apart around him, stemming from the rivalry between Spencer and Asher due to the college rivalry game, and frictions forming between Olivia and Spencer.

In My Name Is, he was voted unanimously as the Recruitment Chairman for the Gamma Nu Phi Fraternity after Alan got his vote voided by voting for himself. Despite him stopping drinking himself, he is almost unable to juggle his duties as a student, a football player and with the Fraternity. He quit the fraternity and took personal leave of absence altogether after he tried to as Keith, the President of the Fraternity for the party pills, but they were laced with methamphetamine and Keith collapsed in front of him.

By Sabotge, his academic probation project of asking students about their freshman experience turned into an intervention that almost failed until Olivia managed to help others convince JJ that there is a caring side of him that he himself should embrace. He also officially asked to take leave from the football team to fully address his mental health but has moved back to the Beach House.
