Coop and Patience is a relationship on All American, portrayed by Bre-Z and Chelsea Tavares.

History[]

Coop and Patience knew each other from being part of the same group back in South Crenshaw and both attending South Crenshaw High. They bonded over their common passion for music and developed an immediate and spontaneous connection, which led to a blossoming romance right at the start of the series. However, they had obstacles to face from the get-go, like Coop being involved with Shawn and Tyrone's gang or her homophobic mother who didn't want to accept her sexuality and her relationship with Patience, which caused friction between them because Coop struggled to come out of the closet while Patience was proudly out, but the two of them still managed to stick through all this. However, when Patience's ex-girlfriend Luna showed up, Coop became excessively jealous, annoying Patience, who thus decided that she wanted a break from their relationship, but they made amends not long after.

They then kept staying together when Coop's music career took off thanks to Layla's newfound record label launching her, with Patience always supporting her while also not abandoning her own dream to become a lyricist. Everything took a turn for the worse, however, when Coop was again involved with South Crenshaw's dark side and risked her life at the hands of Monique Moore, who shot her. Despite fortunately managing to survive, Coop's life was turned upside down: this whole experience had severe side effects on her, affecting her mental health and getting her caught up in legal investigations regarding the shooting. However, all this ended up taking a serious toll on her and Patience's relationship as well: in fact, Coop eventually quit making music, with Patience being signed by Layla in her place, and from then on, the two started growing increasingly apart. Coop felt lost and that her life was falling apart, having nothing left but legal charges against her, while Patience's music career was starting to take off. The two began to argue more and more frequently about how their lives were going in different directions: Patience had found a path which made her happy and fulfilled, while Coop had to start all over again without even knowing where to begin with. Eventually, the two decided to break up, feeling that they had grown too far apart and that being together made either of them no longer happy.

They both then started to focus on their own lives: Coop finally found a new path and purpose when, due to the legal stuff she got involved with, she unexpectedly found herself passionate in law, which she eventually started to study after setting as her new goal to become a lawyer, while Patience kept making her way in the world of music with Layla as her producer. Despite things being initially hard and awkward right after their break-up, the two managed to still remain on good terms and eventually found their way to go back being friends, which in turn led to Coop realizing that she never stopped loving Patience.

However, the night Coop wanted to declare her feelings to Patience, the latter got stabbed by a crazy stalker fan named Miko: fortunately, Coop was able to immediately rescue her, but the assault left her in need of a long rehabilitation due to being physically injured and psychologically traumatized. Patience had a very hard time recovering from what happened to her, but Coop stepped in and made everything she could to help her in her recovery and even assisted her during the legal trial against Miko, standing by her every step of the way. This all paved the way for Patience to realize that she still loved Coop too, leading them to eventually confess their feelings to each other once again and reunite.

Some time after getting back together Patience received a dream job offer as a Broadway performer, which however involved having to relocate to New York for about one year. This caused frictions between her and Coop, who didn't want them to separate again, but eventually realized how important this opportunity was for Patience and decided to support her, so they settled on long distance. However, the year spent apart ultimately made both of them realize that, while their lives were going in different directions - with Coop attending law school in L.A. and Patience receiving another job offer in London - they had changed and outgrown each other, so they mutually decided to end their relationship for good.
